service faqs
Q. Will you do the photography for my wedding?
A. Your wedding is a special and important event in your life. You deserve a photographer who is passionate about, and committed to, wedding photography. As I am neither passionate about, nor comitted to, wedding photography I do not offer a wedding photography service.
Q. Do you have a studio to work in?
A. I am new to Sydney, and therefore I am not yet able to offer studio services. Until suitable premises are arranged I am only able to offer "on location" (in your home or business or other public places) services. You will find that my competitive prices reflect this slight inconvenience. However, I am happy to arrange a suitable location as part of the service.
Q. Do you do other styles beyond that featured on your websites?
A. Yes. I have a substantial portfolio of work and I will be more than happy to show it to prospective clients. Some of the other areas that I have experience in include workplace portraits, dance, theatre and also some sports work. Please contact me if you would like to see galleries of this work.
Q. I'm an aspiring model/actor/entertainer and I need a portfolio. Do you do time for print (TFP) shoots?
A. I am available for limited TFP work, however you need to appreciate that my paying clients will take precedence and that therefore not all requests can be met. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this possibility.
Q. I'd love some photos for the family and also some erotic photos for myself and my partner. Can we do both?
A. I am quite happy to arrange a session of both erotic and family-safe portraiture. This is an excellent option for those who would like to work up to more daring photos and also want extra value for money. Please contact me to discuss your requirements and I'll be happy to accomodate.
pricing faqs
Q. How do you price your work?
A. I have two different fees that are involved in commissioning a shoot.
- The first is for the time I spend setting up, shooting and editing the photos. This is a fixed rate and will be disclosed to you upon enquiry.
- After you have been delivered the proof images, there is a second fee which is for the permission to use the photos (depending on the intended use of the photographs). This fee will vary depending on what you wish to do with the images. For example to purchase the right to publish photos for a national billboard campaign is considerably more expensive than to publish on your personal business cards.
Q. You have delivered the proof images to me and I would like to arrange prints. Can this be arranged?
A. Most certainly. I'm happy to arrange prints for you. You will find that most photographic studios impose a small fee for the session and charge substantial amounts (ie $100+ each print) for the prints. My print prices are disclosed up front and you can access my latest pricelist here
Q. What print options are available?
A. I can arrange for prints in a variety of finishes including matt, gloss and satin. Each finish has a different texture and is better suited to different photos. My personal preference is for matt finish. (print prices may vary depending on the selected finish)
Q. What formats can you arrange prints in?
A. The photographic industry is constantly changing and innovating. As a result there are a variety of formats available to have your photographs delivered in. I can arrange for prints in standard photographic sizes and custom sizes on archival photographic paper, canvas, block-mount and posters depending on your requirements and budget. If you have any other formats you would like us to deliver photographs on, please feel free to contact me directly.
Q. I would like to obtain a quote for commissioning you to do a shoot for me. What information will you need to provide a quote?
A. As you can appreciate, there are a number of things I need to consider to arrange a quote for you including:
-
number of models
-
time, location and duration of the shoot
-
urgency of the shoot
-
purpose of the shoot (commercial or personal)
-
output requirements (print or web)
-
where the images are intended to be published (if applicable)
Q. I would like a CD or DVD so that I can arrange my own prints. Do you provide this service?
A. A CD or DVD of the chosen images can be provided, however I will not be reponsible for the quality and longetivity of the resulting prints. If you require this service please contact me to discuss pricing.
general faqs
Q. You mention standard photographic sizes...what are they?
A. The size and aspect of images is limited, within reason only by your imagination. However, there are a number of traditional sizes that are offered by most, if not all print labs. There are several benefits to printing in these sizes, including the availability of off-the-shelf photo frames and also less expensive printing prices. These include (in inches):
- 6x4
- 5x7
- 8x10
- 8x12
copyright faqs
Q. When I commission you to do a shoot for me, who owns the copyright?
A. According to the Copyright Act 1968 (Commonwealth) where the photographer is not an employee, the photographer is the copyright holder unless specifically agreed otherwise. If you require that at the conclusion of the shoot that you are the sole copyright holder of the proofed images, it must be separately negotiated.
Q. Can I use one or more of your photos for my personal, band or business web site, advertising material etc?
A. Most likely the answer is yes, however as I am a professional photographer, this is how I make a living. Please contact me to negotiate a price for the rights to use the images.
